Another gorgeous west Texas wedding for you. Last one was from Big Bend, this one is at Monahans Sandhill state park in west Texas. I had no idea Texas had sandhills like this! I thought sand dunes could only be found in the Pacific NW, Colorado, or somewhere overseas.
But these sandhills indeed ARE in Texas and they’re awesome.
It’s such a neat little park, they have sleds you can rent and go sledding down the sand hills. They have RV hookups and tent camping spots. I’m not usually one for sand and the beach, it always seems like a good idea, and then you’re sticky and there’s sand ev-er-y-where! Although, I’m starting to like it more these days for some reason…. But Monahans wasn’t like that at all!! I think because it’s not humid there, it was also like 70 degrees, an absolutely perfect, dream day.
The sand didn’t stick to you and I wasn’t left with an icky get-me-in-the-shower-before-I-can-drive-home feeling. Even still, if you were, they have a nice bathroom facility there equipped with showers! It’s perfect. I’d HIGHLY recommend adding this location to your list of where to elope in Texas. In fact, it’s on my list here.
Finding Alicia and her boyfriend so last minute was a huge blessing. I reached out to her on instagram because I thought she’s absolutely gorgeous and seemed like a down to earth person…. plus, they both live in west Texas! I was making my big trip to Big Bend and wanted to see what these hills were all about before heading back home. Even though it was a little out of the way I’m so glad I decided to do it. Not only did I get to meet these two but spent the evening at this really cool park that I can’t wait to go back to!
